A technique for storing sperm at freezing temperature at –196 degree Celsius. Sperm can be stored for long by dehydrating cells to reduce ice crystal formation while temperature reduces to –196 degree Celsius as ice crystals formation can damage sperm.

Process

Sperm freezing process starts by adding cryoprotectant into sperm cells and then reduce the temperature rapidly (rapid freezing). The sperm will be stored in liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees Celsius.
